For those of you who’ve been following me this month, you have read my post about my “Presence Experiment”. To recap: I am using yoga and my attention to create an attractive, effortless presence. (I like the idea of having women attracted to me without having to open my mouth.)
Today, I am adding another experiment to my repertoire. The intent of this experiment is simple: increase my testosterone levels in a natural, maintainable way.
“But Edge, what about practicing seduction techniques? What about working on your inner game? Isn’t the whole point of learning pick-up to avoid conventional means of attracting women, like working out being a ‘macho man’?”
Actually, I’m not doing this for the muscle. Muscle will be a bi-product of it, but I’m actually more after the psychological effects of having more testosterone.
I think it’s important to explore this. And I think it will clarify and unlock different areas of inner game that have been previously viewed as “being in the zone” or “having the nimbus” or “flowing”. It wouldn’t surprise me if testosterone played a big role in the success of many of these so-called “master pick-up artists”
(Matador comes to mind…)
Anyway, the question is how will I do this? I will be focusing in five areas:
Consistent, massive eating – Legend can attest to the fact that I normally eat like a bird. However, eating large meals consistently throughout the day (6 total) raises testosterone levels.
Or, from a different perspective, eating frequently prevents the body from entering starvation-mode, which shuts off testosterone. After all, as one scientist in the field pointed out, “You don’t need to reproduce if there’s a famine.”
Heavy, compound exercises – I’m not going to go into a detailed description here, but basically I will be going to the gym 3 days a week, focusing on exercises that work several major muscle groups at the same time. I will push myself to the limit every time. I will expand on this later. This style of exercise raises testosterone significantly.
Long, quality sleep – Since I became a teenager, I’ve had a history of staying up late and rushing in the morning. Sleep has been mostly a sloppy afterthought, though necessary. From now on, I am going to take sleep seriously and make sure I get 8 hours every night, going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time. Bad sleep can lower testosterone levels up to 40 percent! I will expand on this down the line as well.
Nutrition – Again, I’m not going into detail, but some foods can increase testosterone and other foods can increase estrogen. Foods such as broccoli reduce excess estrogen, while cholesterol-containing foods such as whole eggs foster testosterone production. I’ll be living off mainly chicken, broccoli, brown rice, mixed vegetables, oatmeal, walnuts, almonds, rice cakes and protein shakes.
Yoga – I’m already doing yoga and meditation for the Presence Experiment, but in this context yoga also helps. Meditation/yoga/relaxation reduces cortisol (the stress hormone which ultimately works against testosterone/muscle). By reducing stress, testosterone is able to flow freely without cortisol spoiling the party. (Yes, I know, big over-simplification… I will expand on this later as well.)
So there you have it – it’s going to take some time to see the effects of this, but I think this lifestyle change will increase my testosterone. I’ll be journaling about my experience as it unfolds.
