Legend – The Right Way to Learn Game

Edge and I have been debating this issue a  lot lately.   We have gotten a lot of questions emailed to us about how we became successful and how to duplicate it.

The biggest thing being how to get good fast. I’ve found that a lot of people are sometimes confused when it comes to the best way to study game.   You might wonder what steps to take next or maybe you try out some stuff but it really does not seem applicable to your life.   A lot of the advice out there I personally find to be flashy and isn’t real and practical. A weekend seminar or boot camp may give you good results that weekend but there is no lasting change.  No one bothers to have any follow through.  Some of the teachings out there want you to adapt your personality into some one elses’  which isn’t practical nor did I ever want to change myself into someone else.  I’ve always wanted to be me just with success.

I struggled with these issues for a long time when I started off and I want to talk about what held me back and how I got to the next level and how you can too.

To become successful I think we need to look at whats out there and the idea’s behind it:

Basically take a look at what works and what doesn’t. I think the community has a lot of good information so don’t get me wrong but most of it is geared toward changing yourself too much and pretending to be someone else.    It has been about becoming a flashy PUA guy.   I don’t think anyone should have to become a Pick-Up Artist to have success with women.    Sure I think you need to learn how to approach woman and be a good conversationalist but not at the expense of your own personality. The common knowledge dictates that you have to become this flashy over the top kinda club guy if you want to have any success with women.

Frankly this is just not true. The community has the mentality that if you want to succeed you need to adapt your personality into something else.  Also that you need to become a rock star flashy PUA which is not true.    If you are a flashy guy go for it but if your a funny guy you should stick to being funny.    If your a connection guy you should stick to building an amazing connection.   All of the stuff out there that pitches massive change to become a super hero guy of pick-up is just absurd.  The last thing I really wanted when I started off was to be a “PUA.”  I just wanted to be successful with women.

I wanted real amazing results for me BUT I was just an average real guy.

Now also looking at how this stuff is taught is an entirely different animal in it self.   Sure getting out and doing it is great but how can a 3 day boot camp really cram in all the knowledge of years of experience into your head.  It definitely can’t.   The current teachings offerings always miss the follow through and action plan.  Sure you learn what to do that night but what about the week after?  The month after?   I personally think there is a gaping hole in it.  If you want true results it has to be something on going.  Look at any academic institution.  To get a degree it takes a few years or at least a few month for a class.

Also everyone is currently teaching a one size fits all approach.  Why do we have coaches if they can’t adapt anything?  No one is teaching the principles of what works they only teach the tactics. It seems to be a bunch of people trying to force one personality type onto another.  It just doesn’t work in any real, lasting and satisfactory way.  To learn this stuff it has to be real and personal to your life.  It has to be your game not my game or any guru’s game.  It has to come from you and align with your values and identity so you don’t have to completely change yourself into someone else.

I think the two pitfalls that are out there with everything that’s being taught is there is no on-going plan and it’s not about the underlying unifying theories.   If you get behind the game and break it down to the core mechanics behind what works then it can be personalized.

These problems really held me back in the beginning.   I was always looking for something that made sense to me because I didn’t want to become a flashy over the top kinda of guy.  I wanted something that was real and could work without changing myself to the nth degree.  You know real guys doing real pick-up. That’s really been my motto for everything I write about and teach.   It should be REAL and practical yet still with the advances in dating science over the last few years it should provide  INSANE results.  I think the evolution of pick-up will be learning the concepts behind what works and how to translate them directly into your life in an on going basis.   Personally I think everyone over complicates things and talks about how it can be done over night BUT in reality I think its really simple yet it takes on going training to get it done.

You know my personal opinion that to truly get ‘game’ you need something on going and personalized.   It wasn’t until Edge and I scrapped everything we thought we knew about success with women and went about really revamping our game from the ground up did we truly have success for ourselves.  Not success using someone else’s lines or personality BUT with our own method of success.  We crammed all our old school knowledge into a free book.  If you don’t have it get on the newsletter and get it.

We sat down and wrote out a bunch of goals which turned into a curriculum with the underlying theme of “gaming with out game.”   The curriculum uncovers and uses the underlying “unifying principles of game” to create something new, simple and relatable.    Only then did we start to have success.   At first it was slow but then it started to become amazing.  We had it all.  You can read more about our success journey here.

Unfortunately at the time we didn’t have anyone to coach us but with a lot of hard work we accomplished our goals one by one.  Some of them took days others took months but in the end we formulated a massive new way gaming and implementation until we consistently got real amazing results.
