I’ve learned a lot this year. I’ve watched many products on pickup and I’ve gone out religiously every weekend. I’ve learned that studying in a book or at a seminar will teach you almost nothing without experience to apply the theory to. I have pushed myself farther than ever before and looking back on it now I’ve done things that a year ago I wouldn’t think was possible.
I think that it is important to look back on what you have actually achieved. For me, I seem to achieve something and then hurry on to the next task. I think for the sake of positive reinforcement that I am actually evolving, I should reflect on what I’ve done well from time to time. Focusing purely on the positive.
What I’ve learned:
I learned that I can achieve my goals and get anything that I want if I just take action repeatedly. Taking action is easier said than done, but if you think about doing it all day, you’re still not actually doing it. You can take action once in a while, but consistently taking action towards your goals is very difficult. I think the biggest thing that’s come out of 2008 was my system for actively taking action and achieving goals, which I’m going to videotape and give away for free to all the readers of this blog.
What I want to learn for this year is how to put in close to 100% effort instead of only 20%. I’m only getting older and I know it can be done. I just have to actually do it and hold myself to taking action.
I’ve learned that I can beta any guy. I’m not exactly sure how I do it, but bouncers and club owners are the easiest. Edge is trying to break down what I do and I’d really like to get it on paper myself.
I’ve learned that sometimes to learn something, you need to unlearn something. That on your path to development sometimes you’ll lose the skills that you develop. Change is difficult and it requires active monitoring of yourself.
Positive motivation is key. If you don’t positively motivate yourself you will have negative motivation snap-back. Yes, I coined that term and yes, I will be publishing an article about it soon. Really it comes down to motivating yourself purely from a desire to do and not motivating yourself from anything negative. The best way to motivate your wings is to out-do them, not critique them. To show them what can be done, if we each only take action. Let’s focus on positivity.
Above all, I’ve learned that only I can do something. I can’t count on anyone else nor should I. I’m getting older every day and if I don’t do it now it may never get done. There is no time like now let’s all do it.
Ride the momentum.
